The Gemperle giving spirit

Here in Turlock, the Gemperle name is synonymous with eggs. Ernie Gemperle immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1949, and with a determination to succeed and unerring work ethic, he turned a small egg ranch in Turlock into an enterprise that is recognized as one of the most successful egg companies in the western United States. Gemperle Farms was one of the first to market organic and specialty eggs and remains a hormone and antibiotic free farm.

Along with his entrepreneurial  spirit, Ernie Gemperle also passed along a tradition of philanthropy. Gemperle Family Farms has donated as much as 6 million eggs to local food banks and organizations since 2000.

Gemperle Family Farms philanthropic efforts date back to 1994, when Ernie Gemperle co-founded the United Samaritans Foundation with the mission to provide food to those in need in the Stanislaus County. Since then, several members of the family have continued his charitable efforts by participating in a variety of local missions. The most extensive efforts remain on behalf of Gemperle Family Farms, which donates over 500,000 eggs a year to free lunch programs and food banks.

"Our family has a renowned history of philanthropy in the local community. We practice stewardship with an emphasis on selfless giving,” said Steve Gemperle.
