The Turlock Police Department Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 23 at the Public Safety Center, 244 N. Broadway.

The Turlock Police Department will be hosting their annual open house event, giving the community a chance to learn more about public safety.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon March 23 at the Public Safety Center at 244 N. Broadway.

The event will include demonstrations, public safety vendors, facility tours and a bike rodeo.

The course for the bike rodeo is designed for elementary aged children and is meant to teach them bicycling safety. Those wanting to participate should bring their bikes to the event.

“It’s an opportunity to teach the kids the rules of the road in a fun setting,” said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

There also will be free paper shredding service at the event, with a limit of five boxes per person.

K9 officers Varick and Keyser are expected to make an appearance and show off some of their training.

To go with the earlier start time, the police department will have coffee and donuts available.
