Joanne Trinidad grew up watching her parents devote their lives to helping senior citizens and now she hopes to follow in their caring footsteps.
Trinidad is opening a senior assisted living home in the same S. Laurel Street location that her parents once managed a senior facility.
"Growing up, I helped my parents work in the care home facility; it's embedded in me to care for seniors," said Trinidad, who has worked as a surgical assistant in the past before deciding to become a senior care administrator.
She decided to open a facility in Turlock specifically because of the area's need for more senior living options.
Trinity Valley Care offers personalized, high-quality care that promotes a safe, healthy and caring environment in a large 15-bedroom home. Trinity Valley promotes a family-like atmosphere and helps residents reach their optimal health by encouraging them to pursue hobbies and interests.
The home offers a number of activities to enhance mobility and cognitive health, such as Bingo and movie nights, ice cream socials, bocce ball games and shopping excursions.
"We have a big back yard area for social gatherings and we're very close to the downtown area," said Trinidad.
The home also offers an indoor workout room, wireless internet and cable TV.
Trinity Valley has 24-hour live-in staff who can help residents with their daily living activities, as well as meal preparation and diet monitoring, if needed. The home also offers transportation services to get residents to their doctors' appointments and other errands.
Trinity Valley Care just completed the licensing process and plans to start accepting residents in the next few months.
"I grew up taking care of older family members; it's a hard job so if they can trust somebody to help we'd like to be there for them," said Trinidad.
