Turlock area offers fall fun for everyone
downtown trick or treat
Turlock Downtown Trick-or-Treat will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 (Journal file photo).

As the weather slowly cools down and the leaves on the trees turn orange, several Turlock area businesses, organizations and groups are getting set to celebrate properly through autumn and Halloween themed events.

With Halloween less than four weeks away, community members are already getting into the spooky spirit. At Turlock’s RAM Farms, visitors not only can pick out a pumpkin for their baking or carving needs, but they can also test their skills in their popular 20-acre corn maze, which opened on Sept. 30. Entertainment will also be on hand by way of the staff’s brand-new Halloween Video Show. The original show is put on every evening at dusk and replaces Movies Under the Stars. RAM Farms is located at 716 N. Daubenberger Rd., Turlock. For hours and pricing, visit ramfarms.com.

Entertainment will also be in abundance at the Resendiz Fruit Barn in Hughson. The fruit barn will have their usual setup of a mini hay maze within their pumpkin patch. This year, children can also take part in pony rides, bounce houses, face painting, tricycle rides and more. Resendiz Fruit Barn is located at 4342 Geer Rd. For hours and pricing, visit resendizfruitbarn.com.

Pumpkins are also plentiful at Hughson’s J&J Ramos Farms. Customers can pick pumpkins of all sizes while also being able to browse their selection of pumpkin-based sweets and other fall-themed goodies. J&J Ramos Farms is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and located at 2507 Geer Rd.

Speaking of goodies, one of the most popular snacks associated with Halloween is candy, which can be found at multiple trick-or-treat events around the area.

This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the festivities will kick off at Pitman High School when the fourth annual ValleyDreamCar Trunk-Or-Treat event takes place. This event will feature a wide array of customized cars and trucks. Tickets, vehicle registration and a donations dropbox can be found on Eventbrite, with all proceeds will be going towards two $1,000 scholarships to students in the local car community. Vendors will also be on hand for attendees. Pitman High is located at 2525 Christoffersen Parkway.

Kids can also grab more goodies on Oct. 29 in downtown Turlock, when the Downtown Business Owners Committee, HeyTurlock and Alegria Performing Arts Academy join forces for the return of the Downtown Turlock Trick-Or-Treat event. The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

On Halloween, the community events will continue to roll along with two more trunk-or-treat events in Turlock and Hilmar.

Over in Hilmar, the Holy Rosary Church will host a trunk-or-treat event for local children to dress up and get free candy from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. The parish is still accepting vehicles to register for the event, and they can do so at bit.ly/tort22.

In Turlock, the K-9’s on the Move pet daycare on 1001 S. Berkeley Ave. will hold their trunk-or-treat from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 31. Aside from the candy, the business will offer other snacks and refreshments while showing some family-friendly movies. Vehicles and other donations to the event can be made in their website, www.k9sonthemove209.com.

Area residents and visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for additional Halloween and fall events in the area.
