Road crews have been out and about around Turlock over the past few weeks. There are five active road projects:
- Hamilton Street between E. Main and E. Marshall streets will be closed through April 24;
- S. Denair Avenue from E. Main Street to Crane Avenue will be closed through April 24;
- N. Beech Street from W. Olive Avenue and Flower Street was closed through Friday;
- W. Olive Avenue from West Avenue South to N. Orange Street will be closed from Monday through May1; and
- Angelus Street from Soderquist Road to West Avenue was closed through Friday.
These projects are part of the city’s Roads Initiative Program that was approved by the council in 2021 and aims to rehabilitate Turlock's 428 lane miles of roads, which currently have a pavement condition index of 55 out of 100, over the course five years by allocating 50% of Measure A funding for the cause. An estimated total of $5.5 million will go towards road projects annually, increasing the city’s existing road funding by 100%.
