The Stanislaus Economic Development and Workforce Alliance announced on Monday that long-time Turlock resident Jeff Rowe will temporarily fill the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Alliance.

The decision to find new leadership comes after former CEO William Bassitt announced his retirement earlier this month. Immediately after the news of Bassitt's retirement, a five-person search committee led by Alliance Board of Directors Chairman Jeff Grover was assembled to find a suitable replacement.

Rowe, who has served as director of the Alliance for the last 11 years, will continue on with the board's effort to find a permanent CEO, while serving as interim chief.

“We’ve begun the search for our next CEO,” said Grover. “In doing so, we know that Jeff Rowe will provide the continuity of leadership that our investors, staff and partners need while this transition takes place.”

Rowe worked alongside Bassitt for eight years, which Bassist stated, adds to his leadership skills and ability to lead the organization.

“After more than 11 years at the helm of the Alliance,  I am fully confident that the mission of this organization will not only continue, but will accelerate under Jeff,” he said.

Although Rowe is gladly accepting the interim CEO position until January, he doesn't have intentions to take up the role permanently.

“My goal is to ensure the continuity of helping job seekers and businesses in the area,” said Rowe.

Rowe joined the Alliance in 1991, and has worked as a career counselor, job developer, contracting manager, planning manager, and assistant director. He will begin his duties immediately.
