History of business:
It’s safe to say that Viviana Perez of Turlock has a lot on her plate. Aside from raising four boys, she works as an esthetician at Love Salon and runs her own business, Perez Picnics & Platters. If that wasn’t enough, she just held a grand opening for her new endeavor, Vivi’s, a boutique specializing in trendy women’s clothing.
“I’m surrounded by boys in my life, so I just need some girly time to myself,” she joked. “I just wanted to try something new and I love meeting new people. It’s nice to make people feel good, similar to when I do lashes and it helps uplift oneself, so this could be another way to do that. And once I get an idea in my head, I just go with it.”
Vivi’s is located at 195 S. Golden State Blvd. in between Oak Barrel Ice Cream and Sunsports, in a space formerly home to a nail salon. The space was transformed completely in only about a month’s time, a quick turnaround representative of the ambitious attitudes of Perez and her husband, Armando. According to Perez, the idea of opening and operating another business came to her in November.
“A lot of it has to do with the support of my husband. Once I have an idea, he just rolls with it too,” she said.
Perez’s husband works full time, but that didn’t deter him from doing the flooring and shelves all on his own. The only thing the couple didn’t do themselves was the paint job, which was done by family friends over at Martinez renovations.
“He’d come straight from work to work on what I want, so he did it all,” she said. “I have that support and I know a lot of people don’t, so it makes it easier and I’m extremely grateful. If I didn’t have the village I have with my husband and the kids, I wouldn’t be where I am.”
Vivi’s had its grand opening on Friday night, with a large turnout consisting of friends and family. Perez explained that there is plenty of excitement surrounding the new boutique, as the people are always looking for new places to shop.
“I know a lot of women through the salon and I know there are lots of great boutiques town already, but I know from a personal experience that people always like new things, and I think this adds another option,” she said. “If I have a chance to do something, why not try it? Even if I fail, I’m learning and I’m meeting new people. If I lose out financially, I’m going to gain more than I lose out on.”
