History of business: With four generations in business and over 60 years of expertise, the Woods family knows a thing or two about furniture.

Woods Furniture first made its appearance to the Turlock downtown scene in 1950 when Thurman and Elsa Woods opened up shop.  Over the years various family members have worked in the business, in one way or another.

Current owners David and Randy Woods have hopes of expanding their current location and have a new exposure on their six-acre Taylor Court location.

“While nearly 150,000 cars pass along the highway daily, our location brings lots of exposure and potential business growth,” said David Woods.

Woods also has locations currently open in Modesto and Merced, but has made the Turlock store the focus for all mattresses, accessories, garden sheds, and patio furniture.

“The next goal is to build a warehouse on the property and then the company will be the entirely in one location,” said David Woods.

Woods Furniture was recently honored by the Turlock Chamber of Commerce for the Best of Turlock 2013 as the Small Business of the Year.

“Over the years there have been many changes within the furniture industry and Woods is proud to say they have adapted and will continue offering the best products available at the lowest price possible,” said Woods.

Woods carries a list of manufacturer items including Ashley, Serta, Lexington, and Broyhill.  They offer free in-home design consultation and many furniture options for the kids.
