Aleda was born in Whittier, CA to Antonio and Catherine Verwer and passed away at the age of 80 in Turlock. She was raised in Hughson where she graduated from Hughson High School in 1953. In 1956 she married Bastiaan (Bob) Weststeyn. They eventually settled in Ceres where they shared 41 years of marriage before he passed in 1997.

She enjoyed singing in the choir at Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon where she attended with her husband. Aleda was an avid league bowler for 15 years, earning several awards that she was very proud of.  She enjoyed embroidery, making countless dishtowels. She enjoyed working in her garden outside and in her later years, she was a successful painter.  Aleda enjoyed people, and if you got to know her, she would certainly make sure you tried her secret recipe chocolate chip cookies and her homemade pomegranate jelly. Each year around Christmas, she would make Stroopwafel cookies and OlaBola, traditional family favorite Dutch treats.  Most of all, she was very proud of all her children and their families, she introduced them to everybody every chance she got.
