Betty Ruth Wheeler passed away at age 73 surrounded by her family. She was born in January 1937 to Emmett Hasha and Opal Goss in Roaring Springs, Texas. She moved to Kern County with her family as a young girl in the early 1940s. Growing up in McFarland, she competed and won awards for her art and for her performances on the baton marching team. At the age of 18, Betty met the love of her life, Bill, in a cotton field in Delano. They married later that year in 1955. After living in the Kern County and Los Angeles areas, they finally settled down in Delhi in 1966, where they lived for the next 40 years before coming to Turlock.
Betty leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Bill; sons, Barry (Virginia) Wheeler of Checotah, Okla., Chuck (Rose Marie) Wheeler of Turlock and Bill (Helen) Wheeler of Fresno; daughters, Julie Huber of Delhi, Diane Guiles and Andree Wheeler, both of Turlock; grandchildren, Jeff, Kevin, Jeremy, Amanda, William, Brian, Melissa and Olivia; and great grandchildren, Haley, Bradley, Payton, Adrian, Michael and Clara. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Opal Hasha; and her brother, Lawrence Hasha.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7 at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
