Dorothy Ella Wright, 86, of Turlock, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 8, 1925, in Auburn, CA, to the late Henry and Maude (Story) Gibson. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School and then moved to Petaluma, where she met her first husband, Albert Gwinner. During that time, she worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Dorothy and Albert moved to Philadelphia, where he attended a seminary. After Albert passed away, Dorothy moved to Turlock. She worked at the Cal State University Stanislaus Library for 15 years. Soon after retiring, she married LeRoy Wright, and they spent many happy years together in retirement. They enjoyed fishing, traveling, and watching baseball and football games (the Giants and 49ers). Dorothy enjoyed visits with her grandchildren in Fremont, CA. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Chapel and was a woman of strong faith and love for her family.
Dorothy is survived by her son John Gwinner and his wife of Modesto; daughter Ruth Gwinner of Turlock; son Mark Gwinner and his wife of Fremont; stepson Alvin Wright of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; and her sister Evelyn Young of Fresno. She was preceded in death by first husband Albert Gwinner; second husband LeRoy Wright; and her brother Everett Gibson. Dorothy was a kind and gracious person, and was loved by all of her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 11am - 7pm on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Turlock Memorial Park.
