Resident of Turlock, Katherine G. Dickey, of Turlock, passed away peacefully with family at her side on July 21, 2026 just 8 days before her 100th birthday.
Katherine was born July 29, 1926, in Los Angeles, CA, to Marion and Blythe Powell. When she was in the 3rd grade, her family moved to Turlock, California. She attended Hathorne and Lowell Schools and graduated from Turlock High School in 1944. She married Arlet Dickey on May 7, 1946.
She worked outside the home for Dr. Marian and Dr. Elifson. She and Arlet purchased the Mobil Distributorship and ran it together until their retirement. Katherine was a member of the First Christian Church and belonged to numerous service organization and social groups.
Her life was centered on her family and friends.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arlet, her brothers, Eddy Powell and Bill Gilbert and her great-grand daughter Scarlett Bennett. She is survived by her three children Nancy (Lanny) Sarment, Randy (Caroline) Dickey, and Dan Dickey (Sharon Forzano); her grandchildren Steven (Tammy) Sarment, Jim Sarment, Jeff (Julie) Sarment, Greg (Kathy) Dickey, Jennifer Dickey, Ranee Dickey (Jared Reulas), Shannon (Robbie) Damas, Andrea (Blake) Bennett. She was blessed with her great grandchildren Anthony, Rebekha Nicole & Emma Sarment, Braden & Kendall Dickey, Cheyanne & Conor Ruelas, Maverick, Bransen & Chase Bennett, Blaine & Brantley Damas and great-great grandsons Kolton & Ashton Soriano and her SIL Ava Barros. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and her kitty, Mitsy.
The family would like to thank the caregivers that made it possible for Katherine to remain in her home for as long as she did.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at 9:30 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. at Turlock Funeral Home, in the Main Chapel on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children’s Northern California.
