CERES — River Oaks Golf Course played host to hundreds of runners across 73 high schools and 12 colleges, as well as a handful of club and individual athletes, for Saturday night’s 12th annual Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational. Among those competing were runners from Stanislaus State and Turlock High School, turning in strong performances at one of the region’s earliest and most celebrated cross country meets of the year.
Named after legendary Stan State coach and administrator Kim Duyst, who was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame earlier this month, the Warriors dominated, with the women’s cross country capturing its second consecutive team championship. The men’s team placed third and finished as the top NCAA Division II program.
Turlock High’s boys, meanwhile, earned the top team score in the large school varsity race.The girls came in 10th in the field of 19 schools.
COLLEGE
The No. 12 Warrior women scored 22 points to finish 11 ahead of NCAA Division I UC Santa Barbara. San Francisco State placed third with 107 points. Stan State placed four runners among the top five and all five scorers among the top nine. The Lady Warriors won the 2025 team title with 75 points before lowering that total by 53 points this year.
Stan State’s Stevie Holguin won the women’s 6,000-meter in 20:41.4, finishing 3.5 seconds ahead of UCSB’s Jordin Lieberman. Kekaihulali Halpern placed third in 20:51.9 to give Stan State two of the first three finishers. Annie Wild followed in fourth at 21:00.3, while freshman Natalie Arriaza finished fifth in 21:05.7. Izzy Soto had a ninth-place finish in 21:41.7.
Megan Silva added an 18th-place finish in 22:13.4, while Risa Reynier placed 28th in 23:01.3. Roseli Diaz was 30th in 23:02.3, followed by Sophie Benham in 32nd at 23:07.9 and Aubrey Webb in 33rd at 23:10.3. Demiree Dean finished 45th in 23:49.3, and Elizabeth Christopher was 58th in 24:52.5.
On the men’s side, Stan State scored 51 points to place third in the 10-team field. UC Santa Barbara won with 41 points, followed by CSUN with 49. The program is currently ranked No. 8 in the West Region.
Individual runner Emmanuel Leblond won the 8,000-meter race in 23:48.0. Stan State’s Jackson Oliveira led Stan State, placing second overall in 24:05.5 and finishing as the top collegiate runner. Mason Oliveira placed fourth at 24:29.6.
Saturday marked the second consecutive race in which the twin brothers, Jackson and Mason Oliveira, were the first two Warriors across the finish line.
Guardave Pandher was Stan State’s next runner to cross the finish line, finishing 12th in 24:52.1. Quentin Clarke placed 24th in 25:22.4, and Tanner Gerhart came in 29th at 25:35.8. Jace Campos finished 30th in 25:38.1, followed by Larson Wejmar in 34th at 25:54.2. Austin Hein placed 51st in 26:13.4, just ahead of Patricio Kearney, who was 52nd in 26:13.7. Andrew Morales finished 73rd in 27:06.2, followed by Jason Arriaza in 76th at 27:19.5, Diego Cisneros in 77th at 27:24.7 and Julian Hernandez in 81st at 27:31.0.
HIGH SCHOOL
The Bulldogs boys claimed the top spot in the varsity large school team competition with a mark of 68, clearing runner-up Rio Americano by 17 points. The girls posted 252 points in their race, paced by St. Francis’ 81.
In the field of 238 runners, sophomore Porter Petty led the Turlock boys with a third-place finish with a time of 16:05.6. Senior Gavin Martin followed in seventh at 16:23.0. Senior Zayn Hamilton placed 15th in 16:54.5, while senior Austin Hall finished 24th in 17:09.2 and sophomore Cylus Costa was 26th in 17:10.5. Jackson Blood finished 40th in 17:33.7, followed by Joey Barragan in 51st at 17:43.5 and Logan Oliveira in 57th at 17:47.4. Jacob Myers placed 155th in 19:34.8, and Caleb Staley finished 210th in 21:59.1. Senior Luis Santillanes came in 235th at 26:14.8
The Turlock girls were led by senior Mylie Olson, who placed 20th in the varsity large school 5,000-meter contest out of 179 runners with a season-best time of 19:39.7.
Senior Gretchen Nass finished 49th in 20:49.3, followed by freshman Isabel Richter in 52nd at 21:00.0. Junior Adaline Walsh placed 91st in 22:28.4, and junior Amrit Kaur Sahota was 92nd in 22:31.4. Senior Nayeli Solis-De La Cruz finished 98th in 22:49.2, while junior Samira Salem was 100th in 22:56.1 to wrap the top-100.
Sophomore Paige Andrews placed 121st in 23:42.9, followed by senior Grace Nass in 133rd at 24:07.2 and senior Petra Jerner in 137th at 24:10.6. Sophomores Eliana Serrano and junior Ezaia Roque finished 146th and 155th, respectively, with times of 24:41.0 and 25:05.5.
