Turlock residents, some people have lost their way here in Turlock. We all know that there is an election coming up. But did you know that we Turlock residents are paying for the mayor’s campaign advertisement.
Please open on your computer or phone the City website, Cityofturlock.org. Then go to the “Turlock City Council” page, and then click on the picture of the mayor. Here you will find a one thousand seven-hundred-word campaign advertisement for the mayor. I have attended almost every council meeting over the past 12 years, and I can guarantee you a lot of staff time was spent on this campaign advertisement for the mayor. Of course, it is riddled with exaggerations and false statements, you can do your research to find that out.
This is preposterous, the residents of Turlock must not pay for the mayor’s campaign advertisement. The Fair Political Practices Commission, the State group that was formed to assure fair elections, deems this as an unlawful action. The two other candidates on the ballot for mayor do not have their campaign advertisements on the City of Turlock website, because it is forbidden by law.
The mayor needs to remove her campaign advertisement from the City of Turlock’s website and apologize to the residents of Turlock. This is a prime example of people on the City Council not respecting the residences of Turlock.
