Headley
Dorothy Lu Fern Headley was born at home in Meeker, Okla. She was the only daughter of Marvin and Pearl Kimbley. Though she was the only daughter, she was not the only child for the Kimbleys. Dorothy had five brothers, Carl, T. J., Leon, Roy and Harry.
In 1951, Dorothy married Lawrence Prosser. Together they had three children, Linda, Larry, and Lloyd. After Lawrence’s death, she married Joe Headley and they had a daughter, Joy. Dorothy was known as Mom or Grandma to others as well. She always had an open heart to family and friends alike.
From Dorothy’s five children, Linda Krall, Larry Prosser, Lloyd Prosser, Joy Johnson and John Collins, she has 36 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Headley; her long-time partner, Ernest Collins; and all five of her brothers.
In her 30s, Dorothy owned and operated a beauty salon in Sunnyvale, Calif. Years later, she moved to the Central Valley where for 10 years she owned Headley’s Rabbit Tree, a rabbit farm in Stevinson. Dorothy’s children and grandchildren have many memories and stories to tell of the home in Stevinson. After the rabbit business, Dorothy went to school to get her nursing license. Dorothy was a certified nurse’s aide and worked for years at Brandel Manor in Turlock. Even with all the careers, Dorothy’s true passion was her family. She enjoyed every moment shared with them. She was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8 at Turlock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
