Henrietta Chaves Pereira, 67, of Atwater, died on June 24 in Merced. She was born in Espirito Santo, Santa Maria, Azores. When she moved to California, she became a radio broadcaster for K.I.G.S in Hanford. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atwater and of the Y.L.I in Merced. She loved to be with her family, talk on the radio station, and help people attain their citizenships and drivers licenses. She was very active and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Pereira of Merced; daughter, Marie Elizabeth Pereira of Atwater; and sister, Maria Lopes of Atwater. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Virginia Mello; and brothers, Albert Chaves Mello and Manuel Mello.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel.
Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 1 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1799 Winton Way, Atwater.  A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, also at St. Anthony’s. Burial will be at Winton Cemetery District.
Services are under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service of Turlock.
