Horace, Boyd, 96, of Turlock, passed away at Brandel Manor. He was born the oldest of eight children in Paola, Kansas to George and Carrye Boyd. He attended school in Kansas and met and married the love of his life, Marie Blanche Austin, in 1935. In the late 1930s they moved to Los Angeles where
Horace worked as a laborer for Irvine Ranch. He began loading oranges in boxcars and worked his way up to become an apprentice electrician. He worked as an electrician for Douglas Aircraft for 38 years. His job included working on the Skylab in the 1960s. He retired in 1978.
Horace was a generous, hard-working man. He was always helping his family and friends with tasks. A soft-spoken man, he will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of 75 years, Marie Austin Boyd; son, Robert (Linda) Boyd of Turlock; grandson, Matthew (Kate) Boyd of Downieville; great grandchildren, Jacob and Jonathan; sisters, Jessie Stone of Kansas City, and Margaret Braden and Francis Whitney, both of Louisburg, Kansas; step-grandchildren, Colton Sanders of Modesto and Lori (Toby) Barnum of Modesto; and step-great grand children, Ian and Connor.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Edna Best, Martha Belt, Robert Boyd and Hazel Austin.
A private graveside service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
