James Sweeten, 82, of Turlock, passed away on Saturday, June 18 at Bel-Air Lodge Convalescent Hospital. He was born in Okemah, Okla. to Herman and Winnie Sweeten in 1928. He was raised there until his teens, when the family moved to the Hilmar in 1944. In 1948, he married Mary Ann Davis. James and Mary Ann moved to the Bay Area and lived most of the time in Morgan Hill. He worked for a local trucking company as a truck driver while living there. They settled in Turlock in 1993. James was a member of an antique car club and antique truck club.

James is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Sweeten of Turlock; children, Roy Sweeten and William Sweeten, both of Turlock; sisters, Pauline Mode, Naomi Shackelford and Nadene Fletcher; and grandson, Drew Hahn. He was preceded in death by siblings, Imogene Hendon and Herman Sweeten, Jr.; and grandson, James Sweeten.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24 at Allen Mortuary, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
