John was born in Modesto and passed away at the age of 67 in Ceres.  He was a loving and generous man who was always ready to help anyone that needed it.  He will be remembered for his tough exterior but extremely soft and loving interior, always ending family conversations with “I love you”.  John had a very close relationship with his sisters.  John enjoyed hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He worked as a truck driver for over 25 years and more recently loved his job as a caregiver for special needs adults.  

John is survived by his wife Carol O’Bird; mother Mattie Uptegrove; sisters Judy Dawson and Jane Phelps and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son John Michael Edward O’Bird; and daughter Sherry Lynn O’Bird; siblings Joyce Poore and Michael O’Bird and father Morris O’Bird.
