Juanita Looney
October 1926 March 2011
Looney
Juanita Looney entered into rest on Wednesday at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.  She was born to wonderful, loving parents, Mr. Orphus James and Myrtle Marie Thomas in McCune, Kansas. She was raised on a farm, as farming was her father’s occupation. She attended schools in the Pineville and Anderson, Mo. area. She met the first love of her life, John Sedberry, and through their marriage God blessed them through the Southern Baptist Ministry board to adopt two Native American boys, brothers ages 2 and 4 years old, who were the loves of their lives. Juanita came to California in 1969 to the Redwood City, Menlo Park area. In 1973, she purchased an assisted living home in Modesto, where she served as business owner and administrator. In 1983, she met the second love of her life, Louis Looney. They had 20 wonderful, happy years together serving the Lord. She was a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school teacher and worker for 30 years and was a deaconess in her church for a four-year term.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie and Rachael Sedberry; stepdaughter, Catherine Mayhood of Virginia; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; both her sons, Ray Dale and Jerry Lynne Sedberry; her parents; and all of her sisters and brothers. She loved animals and always had a little dog. A lifetime of wonderful memories is her legacy to her family and friends.
Visitation for Juanita will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at Allen Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at Calvary Baptist Church.
