Heaven gained a beautiful angel when Judy, a Porterville resident for many years, joined their celestial choir on June 6, 2015 after a short illness.  She was 74.

Judy was the daughter of Gilbert and Genevie Abbott and was born in Bicknell, Indiana on August 20, 1940.  After spending her childhood and early adult years in the Midwest she and her then husband, Gary Rising who passed in 1984, and their children, moved to California and settled in Porterville.  She gained employment at Porterville Developmental Center in 1977 and remained employed there until her retirement from her position as a Personnel Specialist in 2003.  A few years following her retirement, Judy and her husband, Roger Anderson, moved to Turlock, Ca.  Roger preceded Judy in death in 2009.

She is survived by her children, Dean Rising and his wife Laura of Santa Rosa, Ca, Darla Hetrick and her husband Ben of Turlock, Ca., Cindy Rising Sharpe of Medford, Or. and Stephanie Arellano and her husband Albert of Gilroy, Ca.  She also leaves behind her brother Thomas Abbott of New Mexico, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  

Judy’s family and numerous friends unanimously agree that she was unmistakably the most kind, generous, loving, and fun-loving lady to brightened the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A memorial service for Judy is scheduled on Sunday, July 5 at 10:00 AM at:
