Lewis Walters, 69 of Denair, passed away on Sunday at Elness Convalescent Hospital in Turlock. He was born in Escondido to William (Bill) and Helen Walters in 1941. Lewis was raised in Escondido, Livingston and Hilmar. He graduated from Hilmar High School in 1960. He lived in Denair for almost 30 years. Lewis was a truck driver and scrap metal man during his working years. Lewis was disabled by a massive stroke in April 1997. He was in the loving care of Elness Convalescent Hospital in Turlock for the last six and half years

Lewis is survived by his wife, LaVern; children, S. Lanée Jones, Craig (Carol) Walters and Keith Walters; grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Chase Walters, Briana Norman and Caleb Norman; siblings, Bert (Mary) Walters and Linda (Bob) Wiggs; and several nieces and nephews. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jess Walters.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16 at Allen Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 at Allen Mortuary. A private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s favorite charity.
