Lucas Melo, 83, of Livingston, passed away on Nov. 27 in Turlock. He was born in 1927 in Guadalupe, Graciosa, Azores. He was a line worker for 22 years and a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church of Livingston and attended Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. He was also a member of Livingston Pentecost Association and founder of the Lira Acoreana de Livingston.  He enjoyed gardening, wine making, matance do perco. He loved being with family, loved his grandchildren, playing music and animals.

He is survived by wife, Maria de Lourdes Melo of Livingston; sons, Manuel H. Melo and Jerry C. Melo and his wife, Lucia of Livingston; daughter, Maria de Fatima Melo and her husband, Jose of Livingston; sister, Maria Lucas de Melo of Graciosa, Azores; brothers, Manuel P. de Melo and Luis A. de Melo of Graciosa, Azores; grandchildren, Cindy Costa and Denise Maciel of Hilmar, Jason Melo, Brenda Melo, Brian Melo, Isaac Melo and Lucas Melo of Livingston; and great grandchildren, Sarah Costa, Kevin Costa, Darin Maciel and Danica Maciel all of Hilmar.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd., Turlock. A Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
