Marge J. “Miss Margie” Porter peacefully passed away November 8, 2022, at the age of 81 after a short illness. Marge was born September 26, 1941 in Turlock, CA, to her parents John H. and Frances Beatty.

Marge attended Turlock grammar schools and graduated from Turlock High School (Class of 1959). After graduating from High School, she married Richard Soderquist. Together they had three children, Sheri, Teresa and Rick. In 1984, Marge married her eternal love, Bruce Porter. Bruce had two children, Yvonne and Paul. Bruce and Marge blended the two families together.

Marge owned six stores that sold women’s fashions and shoes. They were appropriately named Miss Margie’s. She then partnered to open Main Street Bridal Company.

Marge’s hobbies included bowling, golf, knitting and traveling with Bruce as well as attending shows at the Turlock Community Theatre and the Gallo Center. She also enjoyed playing Bunco with her longtime group.

Marge was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Frances Beatty. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bruce Porter (Turlock); and her three children, Sheri (Randy) LaCross, Teresa Benedict, and Rick Soderquist. She is also survived by Bruce’s two children, Yvonne (Greg) Breasher and Paul (Kadi) Porter; her sisters, Marilyn (Arden) Anderson, Nancy (Vern) Segars; and her brother, John (Shannon) Beatty. Marge also had eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation is being held on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Turlock Funeral Home.
