Marie Henrietta Leduc Snyder

Marie Henrietta Leduc Snyder died peacefully in her own home on April 23, 2013 at the age of 91.  She was the daughter of Edward B. Leduc and Elsie Vaissiere. Marie was born in San Francisco on March 17, 1922 and raised in Turlock.  She graduated from Turlock High School in 1939, Modesto Junior College in 1941, and UC Berkeley in 1943.    On March 30, 1947 she married Benjamin F. Snyder.  Marie’s paternal grandparents were Joseph Barnaby Leduc of Scott Bar and Henrietta Jensen of Siskiyou County, one of the first females born in that county.  Her maternal grandparents were Theophile and Marie Vaissiere of San Francisco.
Marie was primarily a homemaker, yet for 19 years she substituted part-time for the San Mateo elementary schools.  She has resided in Burlingame, CA since 1954.  In her later years she became a world traveler and visited six continents.
Marie was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame.   She was a lifetime member of the UC Alumni Club as well as a member of three Historical Societies: Turlock, Siskiyou County, and Burlingame Marie is survived by two children and their spouses, Will Snyder and his wife, Mary, and Vonnie Orozco and her husband Chris, six grandchildren, Anna Haley, Luke Snyder, Sky Snyder, Francesca Main, Jeannette Orozco and Rachelle Navarro.   She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, three cousins, eight nephews and five nieces. She was preceded in death by Benjamin Snyder, her husband of 54 years (4/24/1918-2/29/2000), her grandson Jarrett Orozco, her sister Yvonne Jones, and her good friend George Vieira. 
Those who knew Marie remember her as a high-spirited outspoken woman who loved her family.  She was admirable, generous, thoughtful, fair-minded, and kind in all her relationships and much-loved by those who knew her.
