Michael Joe Land, 67, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on November 24, 2024. It was on this day that heaven gained one of the most precious angels.

Born on April 3, 1957, Michael was born and raised in Turlock, CA most of his life. From a young age, Michael was a hard worker. He helped his dad irrigate, picked fruit with his sisters, worked at a local restaurant where he developed his passion for cooking, and was a forklift operator for 43 years before retiring. He was also a big sports fan. Whether it was playing little league baseball, going to baseball games, or watching football and car races on television, he knew all there was to know about sports.

Michael was a simple man who enjoyed the comforts of home. He spent a lot of his time in the back yard caring for his lawn and garden, singing with the birds, reading the newspaper, enjoying a cup of coffee or beer, and barbecuing his famous ginger chicken, all with his dogs by his side. Although he had many interests, Michael was best known for his love of family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (papa), son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings, lived for his grandkids, and always found time to make each of us feel special and loved with a visit, phone call, or by blessing us with his delicious barbecue.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Buddy Joe Land. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; children, Jennifer (Josh), Sammy, Salena (Shari), Amanda (Albert), and Jessica (Bobby); his treasured grandchildren, Emmerson, Easton, Coraline, Avery, Asher, Mia, Brody, Dale, Everett, and Emilia; his mother, Agnes Land; and sisters, Diane, Vickey, and Tami (Ken).

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at All Saints University Parish, 4040 McKenna Dr., Turlock CA 95382, to honor the life and love of Michael. He will be missed dearly, but will remain in our hearts forever and be remembered for his big love, warm smile and laugh, and dedication to family. We are all so blessed to have had someone so wonderful to love.
