Nita Jo Gunnarson, 87 of Turlock CA peacefully passed away on July 14, 2018 after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William (Bill) Gunnarson.

Nita is survived by her children Jo Ann Gunnarson (Modesto), Jeffrey Gunnarson (Oakdale) and her Grandchildren Shawna, Skylar, and Brianna.

She enjoyed many adventures in her life including travel, flying, gardening, cooking, boating, tennis, painting and teaching art classes.

Nita earned her BA in Art at California State University Stanislaus.

She taught watercolor classes at MJC, Turlock Adult School and in her studio.

She held the position as Administrator for the Turlock City Arts Commission and served as a board member for the Stanislaus Arts Council.

She was a member of the Central California Art League, the California Watercolor Society, and a signature member of the Society of Western Artists.
