Norma Pauline Porter died after a sudden illness on Monday evening, April 16th, 2018 at the age of 79 in Modesto.  She was born in Stockton CA on July 30, 1938 to Ted and Esther Dunham.  She was a resident of Turlock and Hughson most of her life, having also lived in Stockton, CA during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

One of seven siblings, Norma grew up in Turlock, where she graduated from Turlock High School. She married her husband of 60 years, Thomas (who preceded her in death last November) in Honolulu in 1957. After raising her three sons, she returned to school and graduated from Cal State Stanislaus in 1983 at the age of 45. She then taught at Walter White Elementary School in Ceres, retiring after 17 years of service.

Norma is survived by two remaining siblings, Nancy Gibbons of Anderson, CA and Paul Dunham of Pinehurst NC, as well as three sons and daughters-in-law Tom Jr. and Susan Porter of Copperopolis, Greg and Karen Porter of Rescue and Darren and Tanya Porter of Turlock. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Norma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to sew and cook. Her love and dedication for children was felt by all who knew and were taught by her at home, in church and at school.

She was always active in service to the Lord, most recently at Crossroads Church in Turlock. Her Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park.  A reception will immediately follow the service at Crossroads Church, during which a light lunch will be served.
