Severa Cuellar, 75, of Atwater, passed away at Mercy Medical Center of Merced on Friday after an extended illness. She was born to Chico and Isabel Sanchez in Gonzales, Texas. She grew up in Gonzales and married Daniel Cuellar in 1950. Daniel was a farm laborer, handyman and firefighter. The family moved to Idaho in 1996, and they lived there until 2000. Severa was a busy housewife, raising and caring for 10 children. When the children were grown Severa also worked as a farm laborer and drove a school bus for six years. After Daniel passed away and Severa developed health problems, she moved to California to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Atwater.

She is survived by her children, Mary Alvarado of Atwater, Seferino Cuellar of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jimmy Cuellar of Venus, Texas, Isabel Carranza of Ceres, Roy Cuellar of Vancouver, Wash., Joe Cuellar of Twin Falls, Idaho, Velinda Kimber of Pocatello, Idaho, Bob Cuellar of Fairfield, Idaho, Marvin Cuellar of Arizona and Lisa McLinn of Boise, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one grandchild; and several brothers and sisters in Idaho and Texas. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Severa will  be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Allen Mortuary, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19 at Allen Mortuary.
