Willie “Bill” McClain, 72, passed away at Doctors Medical Hospital in Modesto from complications from surgery.
Bill was born in Bastrop, La. and raised in Georgetown, SC. In 1954, he joined the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam war and served our country for 20 years. In 1955, while stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, he met the love of his life, Barbara Joyce Taylor. They were married in 1956 and have been best friends ever since.
Bill’s second love, after his family, was NASCAR. He never missed a race. He also loved deer hunting, camping, traveling and telling jokes. He was especially close with his grandson, Adam. He will be missed by everyone that ever had the chance to meet him. He was a great man.
Bill is survived by his children, Arnold McClain of Winton, Teddy McClain of Merced and Tammy (Carlos ) Meirinho of Turlock; grandchildren, Rodney McClain, Amber McClain and Adam Meirinho; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Hartley of SC; and brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews were also dearly loved by Bill.
He was proceeded in death by son, Ricky McClain.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service in Turlock. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 20 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Rd., in Santa Nella, CA.
