Warriors complete .500 run at tourney

The Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team finished 2-2 at the Seawolf Spike Classic at Sonoma State after defeating Dominican University 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 on Saturday and dropping the afternoon match to BYU Hawaii, 20-25, 25-20, 14-25, 22-25.
Coming off of their first loss of the season Friday afternoon, the Warriors started their first game with the momentum to win and never lost it. In the first set, they had an 11-3 run over the Penguins before having a much closer game with Dominican in the second set, not allowing the Warriors to pull away until the end.
For her efforts, junior Lianne Vicchio came away with all-tournament honors.The team was also very strong defensively at the net, accruing nine team blocks.Vicchio led the Warriors with 12 kills and Jennifer Marsh was also a threat at the net with nine kills. Eva Chafeh also recorded seven kills for the match, while Melissa Bishop led with six blocks and added two kills.
Serving was another strong point for the Warriors in their morning match, tallying 11 total service aces.  Megan Britton led with five aces, and Vicchio and Fett recorded two aces apiece.  
Vicchio also led in Warriors afternoon game with 16 kills. Bishop recorded 13 kills and Marsh also had another strong match with 10 kills.
Britton led the team with 24 digs and setter Nicki Brown recorded 42 assists, totaling 71 assists on the day.
The Warriors (2-2) will begin California Collegiate Athletic Association play Friday at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson.
