CLOVIS — Through the first five minutes of play Thursday night at Daryle Lamonica Stadium, Turlock and Clovis East appeared to be headed towards a shootout.

While the host Timberwolves were able to maintain the scoring following a kickoff return touchdown to open the game, the Bulldogs were kept at bay for the second straight week and fell 47-13.

The Bulldogs dropped to 0-2 to begin the 2026 campaign and will have a tall task ahead next week when Central East, the top-ranked team in the CIF Central Section, comes to town.

Putting Turlock in the hole early Thursday was Elijah Wilson, who went untouched as he

sprinted down the visiting sideline for a 98-yard score to start the contest.

The Bulldogs responded quickly with a 10-play scoring drive led by Owen King, the senior quarterback making his first start of the season. Junior wideout DJ Robertson made three catches for 19 yards, while senior Noel Garcia gained 32 yards with three receptions of his own on the opening drive.

The methodical passing attack set the stage for senior Braiden Fuentes, the reigning Central California Athletic League Offensive Player of the Year. Fuentes caught a screen pass, evaded multiple defenders and turned on the afterburners on his way to the end zone. The 19-yard touchdown gave Turlock a 7-6 advantage.

The momentum stayed with Turlock on the defensive side of the ball, as sophomore Knyco Garcia dove to intercept a deflected pass. On the ensuing offensive drive, though, the Bulldogs failed to convert on fourth down, giving Clovis East possession near the red zone that ultimately led to a receiving score by Wilson.

The Timberwolves punched in another touchdown in between a pair of empty Turlock possessions, leading to a score right before the half.

Clovis East added 21 points in the second half despite a handful of defensive highlights by Turlock, which included sacks by Robertson, Dallas Richardson and Tanner Linhares.

Garcia also hauled in a touchdown to contribute to Turlock’s point total.
