Hilmar volleyball added yet another win to its prestigious record, beating out Modesto Christian 3-0 Monday evening, for its 14th consecutive victory.

Similar to previous matches, the Yellowjackets didn’t leave much room for the Modesto Christian Crusaders to make a comeback, beating out Modesto 25-8 and 25-10 in the first two games.

Going into third match, the Crusaders put added pressure on the Yellowjackets by taking a slight early lead, but the effort wasn’t enough to stop Hilmar’s dominating force and the Hilmar finished with a 25-19 win.

Leading scorer of the night was Hilmar’s Emily Baptista with 17 kills, 4 aces and 1 block.

“They had individual things I wanted them to do on the court, things like hitting down the line…I gave each player an individual thing to work on,” said Hilmar head coach Patti Harris. “And they did; they accomplished a lot of those things.”

Other notable performances came from Hilmar’s Haylee Pearce with 32 assists, Riley Souza with 4 aces, Mariah Ahid with 1 block and Hannah Pearce with 20 digs.

"As a team we worked on cohesiveness—play our game, don’t play their game,” Harris said. “And that’s what we did, play our game.”

The Yellowjackets have an astonishing total of 24 wins so far this season, which they took into Trans Valley League play, with an undefeated 2-0 record.

Hilmar will travel to play against Hughson for their next league game at 6:30 p.m. today.
