Friday proved to be the end of the road for Turlock Christian High’s boys basketball team. The Eagles (13-16 overall, 7-7 SAL) failed to carry Wednesday’s energy into Friday’s matchup with Faith Christian High and lost 65-60 after a failed fourth quarter comeback.
The teams played a tight first quarter, knotting the score at 13, but the Lions found holes in TC’s man to man defense in the second quarter and edged out a 33-27 lead headed into halftime. Faith Christian continued to pull away from the Eagles in the third quarter and opened up a 17 point lead of off multiple TC turnovers.
Sophomore Brady Turner helped reinvigorate TC’s offense from the inside early in the fourth quarter before a Kameron Vogt trey tied the game 60-60 with only 40 seconds left in regulation. TC’s subsequent attempt at the go ahead score was stymied by a turnover, however, and it was the Lions who managed to hold on for the win and a trip to the San Joaquin Section Division VI semi-finals.
