Turlock volleyball falls to Atwater

Turlock High varsity volleyball (6-7) hosted Atwater (4-4) Tuesday night and was defeated in three sets (11-25, 16-25, 15-25).

The Bulldogs nearly showed promise of coming back in the second set, putting several points on the scoreboard first, but had several errors that gave Atwater an opening to come back and finish the game how they started, strong. Turlock missed several serves in its back court, and also got caught hitting the net. Defense wasn’t the only issue of the night, however.

“We only had 12 kills,” Turlock’s coach Amber Castillon said. “We can't win a game with 12 kills. Our girls didn’t pass the ball very well tonight and everything else sort of fell apart.”

Atwater’s Brigette Berlier had 10 kills with 15 digs and Hannah VanWarmerdam had 20 kills during the game.

With eight games left in their season the Bulldogs will be traveling to Golden Valley on Thursday to face the Cougars at 6 p.m.

“A lot of kids were not feeling well tonight, so hopefully, everyone will be feeling okay before the next game,” Castillon said.
