The thrill of competition, team camaraderie and the “one team, one dream” motto has pushed Turlock Elite Cheer to the next level, resulting in a National Championship and memories to last a lifetime.
Geoff Evans, head coach of Turlock Elite, is beyond proud of the hard work and dedication his girls have put in.
“It’s such a huge accomplishment for them,” he said. “My biggest thing, and what I was most proud of, is that they never gave up; they continued to push forward.”
Seven of the best teams in the Western United States competed for the National Championship in Las Vegas and Turlock Elite took the crown.
The team is comprised of high school age competition cheerleaders from Turlock High, Pitman High and Hughson High.
“It’s an organization where girls from different high schools put their rivalries aside and come together to compete as one,” said Evans. “It’s such a huge accomplishment for them to be able to bond the way that they did, and based on the end of our season, they pushed our ‘one team, one dream’ motto to the max.”
Turlock Elite is comprised of: Mariah Garcia, Kaylee Gonzales, Sandra Gonzalez, Hailie Goodwin, Madison Moreno, Lexi Partida, Alexis Rodriguez, Julyssa Ruesga, Mariah Sanders, Lindsay Schammel, Maci Smothers, Brooke Souza, Brooke Spillers, Alizea Vargas and Amy Veredas.
They are coached by Geoff Evans, Lauren Johnson, Robyn Evans and Ashlee Camp.
“I want to teach the girls more than just cheer; my goal is to teach them life lessons,” said Geoff Evans. “The two minutes and 30 seconds of greatness when they perform their routine fits into every aspect of their life. If they strive for their goals, they’ll always be able to achieve them.”
