The winners for the Central California Art Showcase have been announced with a creation from a Modesto artist selected as the Best of Show winner.

The Central Valley Showcase exhibit at the Carnegie Arts Center and the Mistlin Gallery in Modesto is a collaboration that is in its third year.

The exhibit is a partnership between the Carnegie Arts Center and the Mistlin Gallery in Modesto. To view the spring juried art show in its entirety visitors need to visit both galleries.

Working with a single panel of jurors, 152 works were accepted from more than 338 entries. Curators from both galleries have divided the accepted works, hanging approximately half at the Mistlin Gallery and half at the Carnegie. The goal is to create the most meaningful viewing experience through comparison and juxtaposition of the works at each venue.

Judges selected Modesto artist Brian Swander’s painting, “Eclipse Market,” as the Best of Show.
