Court clerk arrested

A Turlock woman has been arrested on allegations she stole money from the Merced County Superior Court.

Amanda Munoz, 32, has been employed as a clerk in the court’s traffic division for several years. Investigators suspect she stole an estimated $5,000 from at least 16 people, most of whom only spoke Spanish.

Munoz was taken into custody by the Merced Police Department Tuesday on suspicion of embezzlement.
