If you’re a person who jaywalks, consider yourself warned.

The Turlock Police Department will be leading a multi-agency crackdown today targeting violations. The department is hosting the Stanislaus Countywide Integrated Traffic Enforcement Pedestrian Safety Enforcement.

Motorcycle officers from several agencies within Stanislaus County will converge in Turlock for an organized operation targeting pedestrian violations. The violations targeted will include those committed by pedestrians, as well as those committed by motorists against pedestrians.
Turlock, as well as the rest of Stanislaus County, has seen a jump in the number of vehicle versus pedestrian collisions.

“It is the intent of the CITE team to bring awareness to both sides of this problem,” said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis. “The goal is that both motorists and pedestrians will be cognizant of the traffic laws and be mindful of each other.”
