Pedestrian struck and killed crossing Golden State Boulevard
emergency

A man was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Golden State Boulevard Monday night and later died from his injuries, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending next of kin notification. The police department said he was a 52-year-old Hispanic man.

The collision was reported at 5:21 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

The man was walking westbound across North Golden State Boulevard when he was struck by a 1994 Ford van. The man was not in a crosswalk at the time.

The driver of the van was not injured and remained on scene and spoke with the Major Accident Investigation Team, said Turlock Police Sgt. Michael Parmley.

It does not appear drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the collision, Parmley said.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found the man with severe injuries.

"Life saving measures were performed at the scene by officers," Parmley said. "The patient was revived on scene and transported to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries."

The investigation caused road closures for approximately five hours while investigators examined and collected evidence.
