A Turlock man already facing one charge of battery on a peace officer had another charge added when he tried to head butt a Turlock Police officer while being booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.

Emanuel Machado, 55, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for battery on a peace officer. Officers located Machado around 5 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Lander Avenue and took him into custody for the active warrant.

While being booked at the jail, Machado allegedly tried to head butt the arresting officer. The effort earned him an additional charge of battery on a peace officer, according to the police report.

Machado was treated for an injury to his chin and medically cleared before being booked into jail.
