An 18-year-old man allegedly caught stealing merchandise from Wal-Mart is now facing robbery charges after threatening to shoot a security guard.

Doroteo Gonzalez, 18, was detained by security personnel at the store at 2111 Fulkerth Road around 3:50 p.m. Monday because they suspected him of shoplifting. While detained, Gonzalez allegedly threatened to shoot the security guard if he wasn’t let go.

The Turlock Police searched Gonzalez and did not find any weapons. They did find drug paraphernalia, which resulted in a possession charge, as well as the robbery charge for Gonzalez.
