A man’s attempt to run from a collision in Turlock came to an end when an involved citizen tripped him up.

Jose Navarro, 33, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunk driving and hit and run, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday the police department was notified of a non injury accident in the 1000 block of Alpha Road. The caller stated the driver was running from the scene.

A witness who saw the crash gave chase after Navarro and tripped him, ending his escape. Officers were able to take Navarro into custody without any further incident.
