If the gift wrapped boxes of marijuana found in a Turlock man’s vehicle were on someone’s Christmas list, then they’ll be having a disappointing holiday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety stopped a Turlock man near Conroy, Texas Wednesday night and found more than $120,000 worth of marijuana in his vehicle, including some in gift-wrapped boxes.

The Turlock man was identified as 50-year-old Frank Coronado.

A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety made a traffic stop around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday on a 2015 Dodge Ram for a traffic violation on Interstate Highway 40, near the city of Conroy in Carson County.

The traffic stop led to the trooper discovering four gift-wrapped boxes that contained four bundles of marijuana. More bundles of marijuana were found hidden in a spare tire that was stored underneath the Dodge Ram, according to the Texas DPS.

The total weight of all the marijuana seized was approximately 20 pounds, according to the Texas DPS. The estimated street value of the marijuana was more than $120,000.

It’s believed the marijuana was being transported from California to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Coronado was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of marijuana and booked into the Carson County Jail. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
