A compliance check at a Turlock massage parlor led to the arrest of a woman on a charge of prostitution.

Xiuxiang Lin, 36, of San Gabriel was arrested on suspicion of prostitution after allegedly offering a sexual service to a customer at the Golden Spa at 638 Wolfe Ave. Suite 2, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

The Turlock Police Department had received complaints alleging illegal sexual activity was taking place at the business. It was alleged that employees at the business were propositioning customers, Rodrigues said.

The investigation has been ongoing for several weeks and culminated with the check at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The police department does not suspect that human trafficking was a factor in the case.

“The Turlock Police Department takes the crime of prostitution very seriously and will investigate these crimes to the furthest extent possible,” Rodrigues stated in a press release. “This crime affects all parties involved as well as the community as a whole.”

The business had a listing on backpage.com that advertised “friendly young girls fresh from college” and that they would “work our magic to put that spring back in your step and the sparkle in your eye.” The advertisement also stated a “free clean shower” was available at the premise. A similar ad was also posted on Craigslist.

The business filed a fictious business name in September 2016 and opened in November 2016. The first complaint of prostitution happened in November, according to the police department call logs.
