The Turlock Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting Saturday night of a Turlock High School student.
Friends and family have identified the deceased as Ismael Guzman.
The investigation into his death is ongoing and few details have been released at this time.
The shooting that took Guzman’s life happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Vermont Avenue.
The police department received reports of shots fired in the neighborhood with a possible injured person. The first officers to arrive found Guzman with at least one gunshot wound.
The officers began CPR and continued until emergency medical technicians arrived and rushed Guzman off to a nearby hospital.
“Sadly, the juvenile succumbed to his injuries,” said Turlock Police Chief Nino Amirfar.
