The Turlock Police Department is investigating a rape that occurred at a downtown Turlock park.

The female victim did not report the assault until days later and could not provide police with a detailed description of her attacker.

The incident was reported to the Turlock Police Department around 11 a.m. Wednesday, but the attack is believed to have occurred sometime Saturday, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The woman said she was walking away from the park when a black male adult grabbed her from behind.

The woman said the man pulled her into a nearby alley and sexually assaulted her.

The attacker was described as being heavy set and tall, Lewis said.
