Area school district candidate field makes it easy for voters in upcoming election
election

Come November, school districts in Turlock and the surrounding area will be holding elections to decide who will serve on their respective Boards of Trustees. While an election will be held for each public school district, most – with the exception of Turlock Unified – will have new faces and incumbents run unopposed on the ballot.

Chatom Union School District, which has campuses between Turlock and Crows Landing, will have three seats up for vote. In Area 1, incumbent Rob Santos will run unopposed. In Area 2, Special Education teacher Alison Carvalho will run unopposed for the seat currently filled by Board member Ryan Blount. Over in Area 5, incumbent Anthony Avila is also running unopposed.

At Denair Unified School District, two seats will be up for grabs. Small business owner Billy Ray Myers and incumbent Crystal Sousa will be running unopposed for the two seats, as current Board member Regina Gomes will not seek another term.

Also in Denair within the Gratton School District, three individuals have filed for candidacy for three open seats, including incumbents Keith H. Coonce and Philip G. Wagner. Joining Coonce and Wagner is Jessica Mora, who is a local internal credit reviewer.

In the Keyes Union School District, all three Board members whose terms are ending will be running for reelection unopposed. These members are Jimmy Emmons, Sr. of Area 2, Jeff Reed of Area 3 and Wesley A. Green of Area 5.

Election day is on Nov. 8.
