Each year, the Stanislaus County Commission for Women holds the Outstanding Women Awards highlighting the achievements of local women who have made a significant contribution to those around them.

The commission is currently accepting nominations for the 2014 Outstanding Women Awards, and is encouraging Stanislaus County residents to nominate women who have made a meaningful contribution to the quality of life for all women and children.

Whether the nominee began an important program or took on a challenging cause, or was the first to achieve a significant accomplishment in their career field, the commission is looking for local women who have been an inspirational role model to others.

Nominations for the Outstanding Women Awards include the categories of Women of History and Living Pioneers. Scholarship opportunities are also available for the Young Women Award, where recipients from high school to age 24 can receive up to $500 in cash scholarships.

Nomination forms are currently available at all libraries within Stanislaus County, or can be downloaded at www.stanislauswomen.org. Nomination forms must be postmarked or delivered by email at sccw01@gmail.com by Jan. 11, with the awards being presented in a ceremony on March 15.
