Fashion show to benefit heart camp

Turlock salon owner Stefanie Heffner knows that beauty is not only skin deep. When helping children with heart conditions enjoy a summer camp experience, beauty shines through inside and out.

Heffner, owner of Bombshell Beauty Salon, is holding a fashion show fundraising event for Camp Taylor on April 30.

Camp Taylor, headquartered in Salida, provides young people from across the United States with heart disease a medically supervised free summer camp experience. Heffner became involved with the organization after attending a Valentine’s Day dinner to benefit Camp Taylor hosted by one of her salon clients.

“We were really moved by it,” Heffner said. “One of my stylists just got diagnosed with a heart condition and she has been actively involved (with Camp Taylor) for three years.”

Heffner’s fundraising event, named “One Night of Bombshells,” will feature a 1940s themed fashion show in the courtyard of Shoppers Eden in downtown Turlock. There will be a DJ playing music throughout the evening for dancing. Vendors, food and drink will also be available for sale and there will be a raffle. All proceeds will benefit Camp Taylor.

The fashion show is meant to highlight Bombshell’s signature service — the pin-up package.  The salon offers a 1940s makeover, complete with hairstyle and makeup, and a photo shoot to commemorate the experience. The client provides the fashions, and Bombshell supplies the glamour.

The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at 310 E. Main St., Turlock. Tickets are $5 each.

This one-night event will not end Heffner’s support of Camp Taylor. She and three other Bombshell Salon stylists will be volunteering their time at the camp this July.
